This lavishly illustrated catalog accompanies the groundbreaking exhibition In the Black Fantastic, which explores the intersection of myth, science fiction, and the African diaspora in contemporary art. Curated by Ekow Eshun, the exhibition features works by eleven prominent artists, including Nick Cave, Ellen Gallagher, Hew Locke, Wangechi Mutu, Chris Ofili, Tabita Rezaire, and Kara Walker. The catalog delves into how these artists employ speculative and fantastical elements to address racial injustice and reimagine Black identity.
